The Bakers Table Experience

With high hopes of sampling their Hawhaw Cake and their infamous Butterball Caramel Cake, We chose to spend our Saturdate in this quaint little cake haven at Maginhawa St. Entering the place there were not much people inside (Yey! ^_^ ), We immediately scanned the cake rack but there were only 3 cakes, Butterball cake, Potchi Cheesecake and Flat Tops cake, No Hawhaw cake in sight, but it was fine we ordered Their bestseller Butterball Cake and Potchi Cheesecake, I was tempted to get the Flat Tops cake too but the table would not permit it.. (hihi thanks for the save dear table! lol. What diet?)

Get this! they have treats from you childhool turned into cakes! How cool is that?

Old school fave candy. ^_^

Coffee x Cakes x Zootopia = My kind of Saturdate

Potchi Cheesecake
I was a bit hesitant to get this Potchi Cake because its too Pink, I was thinking it might taste like Tempra or something, but no, not at all. It has the perfect sweet taste and the cheese cake and Potchi flavor blended quiet well.

Butterball Caramel Cake
I am a big fan of Pete's Butterball and I just loved how this cake turned out. It was sweet and the chiffon cake's texture was soft and a lil damped from the syrup I guess.

I would surely love to go back and sample the other cakes. Relive your childhood thru these awesome cake creations. Which one would you be trying? ^_^

The Cocina Peruvia Experience

Finally had the chance to try this Peruvian restaurant near my workplace, After shift my friend and I wanted to get breakfast and we wanted to try something new and good thing Cocina Peruvia is open 24/7.  Whenever I would pass by this place the warm and savory scent of meats and spices would welcome me. I don't know much about Peruvian cuisine but the smell was enough invitation for us to try this place out. The prices of the items were above average but the servings were good for sharing. The place was was cozy and the music was all in tune to the theme of the restaurant. The servers were friendly and engaging to boot!

I know very little of Peruvian cuisine but they have Adobo and Escabeche in the menu, its quite intriguing and I would surely like to try them on my next visit. Peruvian cuisine is often made spicy with ají pepper. Peruvian chili peppers are not spicy but are used to for  taste and color. Rice often accompanies dishes in Peruvian cuisine, and the regional sources of foods and traditions give rise to countless varieties of preparation and dishes.

The spread below doesn't look like breakfast more of a brunch ^_^ But heck since we work in the night shift this is more of dinner for us. You wont go wrong getting the Brochetas de Lomo, 2 skewers of Beef Brochetas that goes perfectly with Chimichurri, my favorite sauce from all three sauces that comes with the order. Arroz con Mariscos is also a fave, its fragrant medley of rice aji amarillo, shrimp, mussels and squid.

Cevice Nikke Php 290.00
Fish of the day in coconut milk and citrus juice
(Salmon and Jackfish)
Canchas Php 80.00
Toasted corn in butter and parsley
A cross between unpopped popcorn and cornick. Its weird in an oh sooo good way! ^_^
Arroz con Mariscos Php 450.00
(Seafood Rice)
A medley of rice, shrimp, mussles, squid and Aji Amarillo.
Brochetas de Lomo Php 550.00
(Beef Bochetas)
Beef tenderlon skewered with bell peppers and onions served with aji amarillo sauce, chimichurri, salsa creole.
aji amarillo sauce, chimichurri, salsa creole.
Ahhh soo juicy and tender
Alfajores Php 180.00
Dulce de leche, Alfajores, Pulvoron and Ice cream

To end the meal we got The Alfajores, the dessert I would not consider good for sharing. The Alfajores, was composed of dulce de leche, Alfajores, Pulvoron and Ice cream served in a board, the dulce de leche sauce was superb, Its light and the sweetness was not too overpowering, the combination of everything here was just perfect. Now only if I could get more of that dulce de leche! Yum! ^_^  I'm excited to go back here and try their other dishes.

Good Mornings at Catanduanes

Beautiful mornings are made of these...and of course coffee! :) Check out 2 of the spots to spend sunrise watching in Catanduanes. Makes sure to wake up really early for these breathtaking views and I assure you it looks much more awesome in real life, its definitely worth waking up really early for. I've been working for a decade now in the night shift and waking up to this breathtaking view is really a blessing.

Balacay Point

I  woke up around 4 AM and left before 5 to get to this place. Its such a beautiful place to see the sunrise at Catanduanes. I hired a tryc to get to this place but I highly suggest just to get a habal habal its cheaper and faster that way. The lady from Puraran Surf Camp arranged the habal habal for me so no need to worry about getting a contact for a habal habal because they can arrange it for you.( I tried to get the number of my guide but he just referred me to the resort.. so nope, sorry I dont have their contact info)

Waking up this morning, I smile. 24 brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment.

You have to get up every morning and tell yourself I can do this.

The sun meets the sea.. and I get to witness it.

Binurong Point

At around 6:30 we headed back to Puraran Surf Camp and got breakfast, The habal habal driver/tour guide said that there will be a 25 minutes trek going up Binurong Point and a lot of walking to be able to check out the place and advised us to eat a heavy breakfast and bring water before leaving for Binurong Point. Around 7:30 we left for Binurong Point, the 25 minute trek felt like forever to me because I'm not used to trekking and I didn't physically prepare for any trekking, But after getting to the top, I guess it was all worth it! I didn't have much pictures because going up, because I slipped and was scared that I would trip or something so I was just focused on the trek going up and down and I just could not believe how beautiful the place was and I was just in the moment and absorbing it all.

Ride to Binurong Point
That obligatory turista shot :)

Land and the seas

I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning.

When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.

The places were a sight to behold but the trek was, well for the lazy kind of person like me was a work out but totally worth it. Just a few points when going to these place, make sure pack with you water, SPF protection and you can bring some food too, you can do picnics and such but please practice LNT (Leave No Trace). A part of the Balacay Point is already dirty because of inconsiderate people who left their beverage bottles and cans and their junk wrappers all over the place. Lets not do this to mother nature please :(

Majestic Waves and Lobsters at Puraran Beach Resort

I didn't have much in mind when I booked my Virac flight, I said that I just wanted to chill by the beach and eat lobster and that's what I did here at Puraran Beach. After getting to Virac I hailed a tryc to get me to Baras to where the van terminal that goes pass by Puraran because renting a tryc going to Puraran directly would cost me Php 750.00 - Php 700.00, Since it was just me on this trip its not worth it, So I just took the van going to Puraran which only cost me Php 100.00 plus Php 70.00 tryc ride from the airport to the van terminal.

It was not the lobster season so scoring some was quiet a task. After checking in at Puraran Surf Camp Resort I immediately ask if they have lobster available for lunch or dinner and they said that there was none, there may be some by tomorrow. I was saddened by that news I still enjoyed my chill by the beach time here. I spent the whole day here and I enjoyed the serenity of the place since it was off peak season here in February there were not a lot of guest here. I got my room for Php 400.00 which was really a steal but adding a Php 100.00 I would've gotten a hut, but I didn't do a prior reservation and someone beat me to it, none the less I was happy with my room.

You can't stop the WAVES but  you can learn to SURF.

Stoked in Catanduanes
Where the Majestic Waves are seen during the peak season
Baymax feeling Castaway ^_^ Looking for Wilson eh?

Quinoa by the beach? Nope! Sands of Puraran Beach ^_^
Sorry cant make it, I have a board meeting ^__^

Puraran Beach
We can't be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond that you are in, but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea. Holding onto something that is good for you now, may be the very reason why you don't have something better. Happy1 beaches!

Love Love Love <3

I followed my heart and it led me to the beach <3

Live. Laugh. LOVE.

Lobster hunting with a new found friend, another solo travel I met at Puraran Beach ^__^

I called it a day by 10:00 PM since I have to be up early for sunrise at Balacay Point and will be checking out Binurong Point. It was indeed a happy peaceful day at the beach. Chill by the beach, mission accomplished.
